ONDO POLICE SEEKS COOPERATION OF THE JUDICIARY ON SWIFT ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abayomi Oladipo, has called for strong synergy between the Police and Judiciary in the State in order to enhance speedy administration of criminal justice, just as he urged the Chief Judge to look into remanding of defendants on trial in Police facilities due to congestion at the Correctional Centre. According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Commissioner of Police made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Ondo State in Akure. CP Abayomi said the visit was to enable the Command interface with the Judiciary, being a major factor in the Administration of Criminal Justice.   INTERNATIONAL FOREST DAY: Trees are vital to human existence - Akingbasote The Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Forestry/Produce sub sector, Mr Oluwagbenga Akingbasote, mni has reiterated the importance of forests and tree planting to human existence. Speaking with journalists at the nursery site of the Ministry at Oke Eda, Akure,  to mark this year's International Day of Forests, with the theme "Forests and Innovation: New Solutions for a Better World", the Permanent Secretary remarked that 21st of March every year has been declared by the United Nation's General Assembly in year 2012  to raise awareness and give importance to the protection of forests.   JUST IN: Setback for IPOB as court throws out suit seeking to mandate Igbo exit from Nigeria A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has struck out a suit filed by a Coalition of Northern Groups seeking the exit of Igbos in the South East out of Nigeria. Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo threw out the suit following the persistent absence of the plaintiffs in court to establish their case. The suit was lodged by a group of elders and politicians from the North, led by Nastura Shariff, Balarabe Rufa’i, Abdul-Aziz Sulaiman and Aminu Adam. When the matter came up, none of the plaintiffs was in court and they were not represented by lawyers. Justice Ekwo, after going through the case file, discovered that the Northern groups have not been coming to court since 2022 till date and had no legal representation. In a brief ruling, the Judge held that from all indications, the plaintiffs have abandoned their own suit. Justice Ekwo therefore struck out the case for want of diligent prosecutio...
