JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, after a meeting held with education stakeholders in Abuja, admitted responsibility for the mass failure that trailed the examination. He announced that about 379,997 candidates in the just concluded 2025 examination would retake the examination. The suspended lecturer allegedly altered 235 examination result scripts. The Vice-Chancellor, University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, disclosed this on Wednesday in Calabar. Obi stated that Akpan, a Head of Department, allegedly altered students’ scores in a course - Introduction to General Antimicrobial Pharmacology (PHM 311). She claimed that Akpan altered the scores in 235 scripts out of the 242 scripts entrusted in his care, adding that only five scripts were genuinely marked without alteration. “The lecturer also (allegedly) gave out marks to two students, who did not participate in the examination,” she said.
