ONDO COMMISSIONER EXONERATES AKEREDOLU FROM SALE OF TRACTORS
Ondo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Chief Aribo Olayato, has rebuked news published by some sections of the media that the former Governor of the State, Late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, indiscriminately sold government-owned tractors to members of the public.
In a press statement issued by the Press Officer, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Sola Omoboyowa, Olayato said the government of Late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu bought tractors and sold to interested farmers at subksidised rates to encourage large-scale farming , adding that some farmers have paid in full, while others are still paying in instalment.
Chief Aribo stated that it is an approved government policy that farmers should be encouraged to engage in mechanised farming so as to boost food production in the State; noting that the government therefore procured tractors and sold to farmers at subsidised rate, to assist them in large scale farming.
He therefore called on media organisations to seek clarifications from appropriate persons or authorities on stories that are unclear to them, so as not to misinform the public.
