  POLICE PRESENT OVER 70 MILLION NAIRA CHEQUES TO FAMILIES OF DECEASED OFFICERS IN ONDO As part of efforts geared towards supporting the families of Police Officers who died in active service, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Adeolu Kayode Egbetokun, NPM, PhD, has allocated the sum of Seventy Million, Three Hundred and Forty Two Thousand, One Hundred and Ninety Naira, Eighty Nine Kobo (N70,342,190.89k) to the next of kins of deceased officers in Ondo State. This initiative is in furtherance of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, designed to provide financial relief and assistance to bereaved Police families, ensuring they are supported during difficult times, and in recognition and acknowledgement of the sacrifices the fallen heroes have paid for the nation.   ONDO BEGINS REVIEW OF AGRIC POLICIES In a move to boost food production and mitigate current economic hardship, the Ondo State government has collaborated with the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) to review the State's agricultural policies.  The Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Chief Olayato Aribo, disclosed this on Friday at a meeting with stakeholders in the agricultural sector, noting that the move is in line with best global practices and would enhance the growth of agricultural chains in the State.   UNIVERSITY SUSPENDS LECTURER FOR ALTERING 235 EXAMINATION RESULTS The management of a University in Nigeria has suspended one of its lecturers, Joseph Akpan, over alleged misconduct. The suspended lecturer allegedly altered 235 examination result scripts. The Vice-Chancellor, University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, disclosed this on Wednesday in Calabar. Obi stated that Akpan, a Head of Department, allegedly altered students’ scores in a course - Introduction to General Antimicrobial Pharmacology (PHM 311). She claimed that Akpan altered the scores in 235 scripts out of the 242 scripts entrusted in his care, adding that only five scripts were genuinely marked without alteration. “The lecturer also (allegedly) gave out marks to two students, who did not participate in the examination,” she said. FEDERAL HIGH COURT GRANTS BAIL TO ISHAKU, 1 OTHER A High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, has granted a N150 million bail to the former Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku. Ishaku was arraigned on a 15 - count charge alongside the former Permanent Secretary of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the State, Bello Yero, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which accuses them of criminal breach of trust, conspiracy, and illegal conversion of public funds. During their arraignment, both men pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested bail, pending the hearing and determination of the case; while the EFCC requested an accelerated hearing of the case. In its ruling, the presiding Judge, Justice Oriji granted bail to the two defendants, but ordered them to provide two sureties each, who must reside within the Federal Capital Territory.
